Lemuria was a huge continent of lush but unstable volcanic islands, stretching
thousands of miles across the Pacific Ocean and existing for thousands of
years. Destroyed by violent volcanic eruptions, perhaps between 35,000 and
70,000 years ago, it has long been dismissed as myth and legend by many
historians and archaeologists.
Only a few researchers contend it once existed.
